Every wondered why that free-kick was given? Or, why that off-side was not given?
Or, why was blue player #2 sent off when green player #9 appeared to commit a similar offence? Why is the referee holding his hand up?
Why wasn’t a free kick awarded when the ball clearly made contact with the player’s hand?
Here’s your chance to find out by undertaking a Referee Course, which will enable you to put your whistle where your mouth is.
Courses are available for all ages.
The Level 5 course looks closely at the Laws of the Game.
A theory-based exam is held at the end of the course.
The course costs $25 per person under 16 (as at 1 January of current year);
$50 per person over 16 (as at 1 January of current year), and this includes a Rule Book.
If you are successful in passing this course, the Level 4 course must then be completed before officiating as an official referee.
The Level 4 course has practical components including refereeing a Junior soccer match.
The cost of this course is the same as the Level 5 - however you do receive a basic kit (shirt, shorts and socks).
To enrol in this course you are also required to join Football Referees (WA) Perth
(see the Fees page for costs).
Mens Semi-Professional match officials are subject to additional theory, fitness and grading requirements.
Remuneration is available to members officiating matches under the jurisdiction of FRWA Perth (see Fees).
Referee courses are held throughout the year at many locations around Perth.
